Sony PlayStation 3 Console: An Amazing Gaming Console

Why PlayStation 3 Failed
The PlayStation 3 (often referred to as the PS3) was meant to be the console of the future, but its release in November 2006 was overshadowed by lateness and rumors on cutbacks made by Sony. It can read the new Blue-ray Disc format, features a special Nvidia RSX video card and includes features such as Wi-Fi internet. Despite these many innovations, sales of the PS3 have been sluggish, as the Nintendo Wii and the Xbox 360 continue to enjoy a larger market share.
Upon its launch, the PlayStation did not come with many of the features that were expected, disappointing many customers. Another disappointing aspect of the PS3 is the removal of the Emotion Engine, which means that games which were released for the PlayStation 2 have to be run using software emulation, causing the loss of several functions for the older games.
Both the Wii and the Xbox 360 have enjoyed immensely popular games released for consoles. Halo 3, a first-person shooter game is often credited to having a large part in the success of the sales of the 360. Yet no game for the PlayStation 3 has been released which could provide potential customers initiative to purchase Sony's console.
One of the major obstacles that Sony faces trying to sell its product is the hefty price-tag that comes with the PS3: Sony has charged as much as 600$ for its product. With the Wii costing just 250$, and the Xbox 360 only 350$, the PS3 is a very large investment and not many people are willing to spend that much for a video game console.
Despite the many problems that the PS3 has faced, it still remains a very high quality console. Sony should now spend their efforts on pricing the PlayStation more competitively and launch a large marketing campaign to improve their public image. As more and more games are released for the PS3, it still might be able to make a comeback.

Beware: Wholesale Playstation 3 Price Scams
It is impossible to get a brand new and virtually not touched PlayStation 3 at a real wholesale price, despite what many scammers would have you believe- if wholesale is to be consider 50-90% of the current retail value of the first 2 years of life of the item. If you try to get a PlayStation 3 in this way, the best scenario is that you will most likely get it slightly cheaper than the retail price, but with a lot more hassle and worry.
The worst case is that you might not get your PlayStation 3, and some unscrupulous crook will get your money the easy way. Beware of early sign of supposed wholesale for Playstation 3.
Why? The first answer is simple market economics. The reason wholesale prices get to be low is because of the cost of dealing with individual customers. Any company, which is selling to individuals, will have to encounter these higher costs, and so will not be able to offer wholesale prices in the most likely events. The why of that is simple? Yes indeed, the majority of the wholesalers and distributors play the game of bulk, and only a few get to do business in single these days. These are the facts, but such kind of distributors and wholesalers are still available.
The second reason is the shortage of units of the PlayStation 3. Sony manufacturing center in Japan and China have been unable to produce enough units to flood the market at launch. Anybody who does have access to a wholesale PlayStation 3 has a strong incentive to sell on to a retailer, who will be able to get a good price for them. Finally, Sony exerts control over the pricing of the PlayStation 3 in the US market, as things are slightly different in Japan, where retailers are allowed to set their own prices. They have the legal and economic power to ensure that the PlayStation 3 is sold only for the official prices - that is, $499 for the standard version, and $599 for the premium version.
So, what are all these outlets offering the PlayStation 3 at wholesale prices? Mostly, it is just a marketing gimmick. Some of them may really be wholesalers who are trying to break their agreement with Sony and sell the PlayStation 3 direct to customers. If that is the case, they are likely to be in legal trouble fairly soon, and they are not good people to be trusted with your money as you could also be in headaches as a buyer of such possible scam.
Where do you go if you cannot get the PlayStation 3 at wholesale prices? Look for hidden distributors like most eBay power sellers and online powerhouses do. People who devote their time to wholesale businesses spend countless hours searching for such hidden distributors and single unit sales with such sources. Their prices might seem a lot higher than those of the wholesalers, but in fact some will probably be offering bundles that give you good value for your money most of the time.
You will probably be looking to get extra games and controllers anyway, so why not let shops include them in the package for you? That is the way to get your PlayStation 3, not through the wholesale 50-80% discount scam. For people who breathe and live the wholesale tangible sell- at least for now, it would be impossible to find real wholesale Playstation 3 in brand new conditions and definitely in my 7 years of experience online and with my disclaimer point of view that is, importantly.

Wholesale Playstation 3- Accessory News
Accessories for wholesale PlayStation 3 will be appearing in their droves over the next six months, as third party developers try to cash in on the likely popularity of the new console. The only accessory to be included as standard is the SIXAXIS wireless controller - one of them will be included in the box with each PlayStation 3. As well as wireless operation, this accessory can also be used with a wired USB connection. This is how it will be charged. Earlier versions of this accessory were known as the Dual Shock 2, since the controller is a successor to the Dual Shock device, used as an accessory to the PlayStation 2.
Sony will also be selling a couple of other basic accessories. One is a memory card adaptor for the PlayStation 3. Armed with this, gamers will be able to connect their old PlayStation 2 memory cards to the new PlayStation 3. A remote control accessory, working over blue tooth, will enable control of the PlayStation 3 disc player. Lazy gamers won't even have to get out of bed.
But expect the most exciting developments to be coming from third parties. So far, there is not much to see. Logitech are providing a Chill Stream controller for the PlayStation 3 - essentially identical to the PS2 Chill stream. It is due for release on November 22, and the price tag is set to be about $40. On a more pragmatic note, Nyko plan to sell a cooling device for the PlayStation 3. It will bear the same name, 'Intercooler', as its counterpart for the Xbox 360. But once the platform is established, the PlayStation 3 accessory market is sure to take off. Without doubt we will see driving wheels, musical instruments for games like Guitar Hero, and quirky new toys that we can barely even predict.
One disappointment is the lack of support for legacy devices. The PlayStation 3 is not guaranteed to work with hardware additions for its precursor the PlayStation 2. That means a lot of us will be stuck with a cupboard full of accessories that we cannot use with the PlayStation 3. We can hope that third-party developers will come up with some way of unofficially linking the old and the new - but do not count on it. So, the long and short of it is that we will have to wait a few more months to see a truly impressive range of accessories for getting wholesale Playstation 3. Sony message seems to be: first get your console, and only then begin the hunt for PlayStation 3 accessories.

The Sony PS3 Launch Day Madness!
6 months late and only 400,000 systems for the nationwide launch, yep, sounds like another games console launch...
On November 17th Northern America saw the long awaited launch of the Sony PlayStation 3, but how many people got what they wanted?
Well, as expected the number of units available was very low and as usual there were quite a few people ready to pay big money to be the first to own a PS3.
The 60GB PS3 has a retail price of $600 and so far eBay has seen a steady flow of units selling for between $1,500 and $4,000 !!
Many people camped out over night on the cold streets for a chance of getting their hands on the highly prized console, some waiting three days to ensure a good place in the queue. Outside one Circuit City store 50 plus people patiently waiting but only 10 PS3 consoles were available for sale... A large bold sign reminding queuing hopefuls of this limited number seemed to make no difference, some waiting in line just for the chance that someones credit card might be declined or maybe an unexpected stock delivery? It's great to see the never say never attitude alive and well in the streets of the USA!
These die hard PS3 fans are a special breed, keeping one-another encouraged and talking amongst themselves about the impending games releases and online capabilities, you can really feel the excitement in the air.
For others though, the cold long wait was just about the money, they weren't afraid to admit that they intended to sell the console on for a profit, As with the games console releases in the past demand far outweighs supply and there are plenty of gamers prepared to pay top Dollar for a early chance to play. One queue waiter commented "I'd rather take the $2000 profit and wait another three months!"
So that's the folks in the US underway, Japan had their PS3's first on November 11th, but what of the European gamers? Well Sony have put off the Europe wide launch until March 2007 because of reported production problems with the graphics chips, and the difficult to manufacture Sony Cell processor, But will they meet the march deadline? They can't say! Sony are currently refusing to guarantee a Spring European launch at all, so it could be an even longer wait for Europe. Let's wait and see...

Warning: PlayStation 3 Distributor Caution
Supposed distributors of the PlayStation 3 are popping up across the internet. But many of them are very dubious in their origins. Who can you trust, and who should you avoid?
One of the golden rules of shopping applies here: if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Treat any distributor claiming to offer advance order of wholesale-priced Playstation 3 with the contempt they deserve, and keep your money well away from them.
The PS3 market is a particular minefield. In principle, it sounds as though it makes sense: everybody knows the PlayStation 3 is going to be sold out almost as soon as it arrives, so why not pay in advance to get to the queue?
Well, that is how it would work if all the distributors were honest. But some have been offering orders that are not worth the investment they are written on. They have been selling advance promises of delivery that are not been guaranteed by Sony. That means if you order in advance from any high priced gaming distributor, you may very likely not receive your PlayStation 3 until 2007, when supply will finally be able to meet demand.
Now, there are some honest distributors out there. One way to find them is to stick with the big name companies. These have a lot more reputation to lose if they cheat their customers, so they are likely to be a little more careful about promising more than they can deliver.
Still, that is not enough. If you do decide to place an advanced order, you will want to ask a few questions. Ask how many PlayStation 3 units Sony is going to ship to that retailer in the first batch, not overall and check that every order are guaranteed to be filled from this number. You can also check that you will be given a refund if they fail to provide you with a PlayStation 3 on the date promised.
Finally, here are a few other scams to avoid. Be very cautious of auctions of the PlayStation 3 or elsewhere. During past console launches the site has been flooded with carefully-worded auctions apparently selling the console, but in fact offering nothing more than an empty box.
Others have sold guarantees that turn out to be entirely worthless. But keep your eyes peeled, do not believe everything you read, and you might just be able to find a good PlayStation 3 distributor.
